March 3, 2023
March is loaded with LVHS activities. Join us on Monday, March 13th, to hear a presentation by Anna Maria Whitaker on the life of Julia Morgan, California’s first licensed female architect, and designer of over 700 buildings in our state. Ms. Morgan is famously known as the architect who designed the famous Hearst Castle. The presentation will begin at 4:00 pm at the Hillcrest Meeting House. Be prepared to sign in, check your temperature, and wear a mask. A flyer is attached. You might want to come early to see “Embracing Ghosts”, an art exhibit by Stacey Jordan, upstairs in the Meeting House at the Gallery at Hillcrest. Ms. Jordan’s exhibit will be available until March 24th.
March 25th is a full day of LVHS-supported activities. We’ll be at Bonita High School on March 25th from 9 am-1 pm to support the high school auto shop’s car show. Drop by and say “Hello”. At 2:00 pm, the LVHS is sponsoring a tour of the Methodist church at 3205 “D” Street. Hear about the film and tour the now-famous church. At 3:15 pm The Graduate, an iconic film from 1967, will be screened in Bonita High School’s Student Union building. Maybe you’ll recognize the church as the location of the iconic final film scene, but can you recognize other film location spots in La Verne? A flyer for the church tour and a separate film flyer is attached. All these events are FREE. Again:
