September 23rd, 2021
Allow me to introduce you to Rob Zamboni, auto shop teacher at Bonita High School. Rob and his students have agreed to restore the 1938 International truck, which was moved from its location (my driveway) to Bonita High School on September 16th. I visited the school last Tuesday with Marv Weston and was interviewed by Javier Rojas, who is writing an article about this project for the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. It was wonderful to see the students swarm all over the truck. The LVHS owes a HUGE thank you to Scott Dilley of Sanders Towing, who so graciously helped to get the truck moved. More details about this project will appear in the upcoming October 2021 edition of Legacy Links.
The LVHS is scheduled to sponsor its first Member/Community meeting at 6:30pm on Monday, October 11th, at the La Verne Veteran’s Hall. Attendees will be required to check in and wear a mask throughout the presentation. Come support the LVHS as we begin our next steps to bring local history back in person! See the attached flyer.
October 23rd is coming up and the LVHS will hold its Old Timer’s Potluck Picnic at the Evelyn Hollinger Memorial Redwood Grove at Las Flores Park. Our picnic will begin at 5:00pm. Sherry and John will provide tables, folding chairs, tableware, and bottled water. Bring a potluck dish to share or a separate dinner if you prefer. A flyer of this event is attached.
Bill’s been at it again! Here is the link for his latest “Time Capsule” about Kuns Park. Enjoy.
Be safe, be good, be happy!
