Membership in the La Verne Historical Society (LVHS) will immerse you in a community of individuals who are interested in preserving La Verne’s past and making history for its future. New and renewal membership costs $20 a year for individuals and $25 for families, with a special discount available for students. Committing to a lifetime membership is $200 per person. Members receive six annual emailed editions of the LVHS newsletter, Legacy Links. Regular President’s messages and special announcements keep members regularly updated on our dynamic activities.

The LVHS sponsors multiple types of events to appeal to a wide variety of interests. Members may participate in walking, home, and bus tours, attend four annual member/community meetings and enjoy the annual “Old Timer’s” potluck picnic. Special events include a “B” Street cemetery tour including historical presentations by costumed enactors, participation in the La Verne Fourth of July parade, and a day-long visit to places of interest in Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire. Most events are free to members, and some are restricted to members only.

In addition to events, the LVHS is focused on several projects, including restoration of a 1938 International truck, dissemination of display cases containing historical artifacts through district elementary schools, and participation with La Verne TV in creating videos for its series entitled “In Our Backyard."

The LVHS is interested in writings, photos, and memorabilia of days gone by. To provide tidbits of La Verne’s history, or to ask questions, contact us. And, of course, we have opportunities for volunteers and are excited to receive donations to restore our 1938 International truck.
